COVID 19 Update – Delta Variant

  • The Delta variant now represents more than 83% of COVID cases in America – including the majority of cases in New Mexico – and it’s far more transmissible than earlier variants.
  • Nationwide, cases have quadrupled in the month of July – from approximately 13,000 to more than 54,000.
  • This makes getting vaccinated all the more important.
  • Protecting ourselves and our families – and ensuring that we don’t have to enact restrictions again – means getting vaccinated.
  • Our vaccines are highly effective – including against the Delta variant.
  • But we don’t want to give this virus more chances. We want to stop it in its tracks.
  • So please – for yourself, for your family, for our economy, and for all of the young people who aren’t yet eligible – get vaccinated.

  • Getting vaccinated is essential for students returning to school – it’s how we keep each other safe and create the best possible learning environment.
