Rio Rancho students compete in state spelling bee

Three Rio Rancho middle and elementary students have earned spots to compete in the New Mexico state spelling bee on March 20-22, sponsored by Nusenda Credit Union and the Albuquerque Journal. The event will be conducted virtually. Two winning students from the 20 New Mexico contest will compete for space at the national Scripps Howard spelling bee in Orlando FL in June. The 2020 event was cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic. 
Rio Rancho’s competitors are:
MOUNTAIN VIEW MS: Lauryn McKee, Grade7
RIO RANCHO MS: Miquela Yardman, Grade 8
SANDIA VISTA ES: Esha Shivashanker, Grade 4
