“We remember those who were called upon to give all a person can give, and we remember those who were prepared to make that sacrifice if it were demanded of them in the line of duty, though it never was. Most of all, we remember the devotion and gallantry with which all of them ennobled their nation as they became champions of a noble cause.” – Former President Ronald Reagan, as quoted at newsweek.com.
Freedom isn’t free, and Veterans Day is one of the days we honor those who have paid the price for our rights.
To mark this day, the Rio Rancho Observer invited the community to submit photos and information of any veteran, living or deceased, and anyone currently serving who has lived in Sandoval County at some point. We know Veterans Day honors living veterans, while Memorial Day is for deceased veterans and Armed Forces Day notes current military members. Still, we didn’t want to neglect any of them in this section, because they all have served all of us in this country. Pick up your copy of the Rio Rancho Observer on Nov. 8 to see the names and faces of our brave local veterans.
To you who have served in our armed forces, thank you. We remember and appreciate the sacrifices you made to protect this nation and our freedoms.
Argen Marie Duncan, Rio Rancho Observer editor/publisher
